Successful participation of HWTC at Budapest Water Summit 2019
(November 14, 2019)
Following the success of the conferences held in 2013 and 2016, the Budapest Water Summit was organised by the Government of Hungary for the third time on 15-17 October 2019 with the motto „Preventing Water Crises”. The Summit was opened by H.E. Mr János Áder, President of the Republic of Hungary. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary was responsible for the full preparation and conduct of the Summit and all related events. The Summit, hosting more than 2400 participants from 118 countries, was attended by the Prime Minister of Cambodia, 28 Ministers, 6 Deputy Ministers and 5 State Secretaries. Furthermore, several international organisations and six multilateral development banks have been represented at managerial level, including the President of the Asian Infrastructure and Investment Bank.
As part of the Summit, at the "Digital and Nature-based Sustainable Solutions Expo" (BWS 2019 Expo) more than 30 exhibitors from the Hungarian water industry have presented their innovative solutions for managing water crises. In the framework of the exhibition, nearly 700 business meetings were held between a total of 96 Hungarian and foreign companies. The second and third days of the event were open for the public without prior registration and received nearly 1000 visitors. Our CEO, Adrián Kiss was invited to participate in the round-table discussion about "Preventing water crises – issues of abundant, scarce and polluted waters", moderated by Mr János Tamás, Head of Department of Water and Environmental Management at the University of Debrecen.
Our stand was very busy most of the time. We carried out more than 10 high-level meetings and business negotiations with delegations from Uganda, Cuba, Kuwait, India, Laos, Pakistan, Egypt, Saudi Arabia and Tunisia just to mention a few. Several foreign partners were interested in our mobile water treatment compact units and the hail damage repelling system (JÉGER) that we implemented last year in collaboration with the Hungarian Chamber of Agriculture. On the second day of the EXPO, his Excellency János Áder, President of Hungary also visited our stand, where we briefed Him about our on-going and recently completed international projects.
